Vee is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, chartered with the BPS and registered with The Health Professions Council. She joined the Keil Centre in June 2009.
Vee graduated with a BSc Hons degree in psychology from The Open University in 1995, and while doing a PhD she took up a post in the Child and Family service of the Clinical Psychology Department in Highland region. She then went on to do a doctorate in Clinical Psychology and gained this qualification in 2001.
As well working with children and families, Vee has worked in cancer care (running a drop in service for anyone affected by cancer in Highland region), and prior to joining the Keil Centre was Lead Psychologist for Primary Care in NHS Highland, working primarily with adults with mental health problems. Vee has expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of psychological problems across the age spectrum (from young children to older adults). Vee works 'integratively', that is she draws from various models of psychotherapy in order to tailor treatment according to individual needs.
Vee has attended a range of trainings which include CBT, Solution Focused Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and she has specialist advanced training in EMDR (which is recognised as particularly effective in the treatment of trauma - see Clinical/Counselling services for more information), and Mindfulness (which can be particularly appropriate for people who suffer from depression, anxiety, pain, and ME). Vee is a core trainer for Mindfulness Scotland and is a founder member of The Mindful Consultancy. One of her interests is in the role of bereavement, grief, adjustment and change and it's underpinning of many psychological problems. She has also written a self-help book on stress management (Start to Stress Less). As well as working with adults, Vee works with children and teenagers. Vee also provides couple counselling.
