/ Effective teamwork / Get newly-formed
teams off to a flying start
When newly-formed teams must gel and perform to a tight deadline,
The Keil Centre's Chartered Psychologists can aid this process. We
have worked with operational managers and project staff to:-
- Define team success criteria
- Design an integrated team development process which meshes with
technical inputs
- Design and deliver team development exercises
- Handle team development project management on behalf of clients
- Evaluate the effectiveness of team development activities.
Example projects involving newly-formed teams include:-
- A public sector organisation was working to a very tight deadline
to open a new facility. Between recruiting the new team and the
opening date, only two weeks were available to deliver technical
training and form an effective team. In addition, the project
manager faced a number of other project demands. The Keil Centre
worked alongside the project manager for several weeks to:
(a) design an integrated two-week team development programme
(b) co-deliver the programme
(c) evaluate its effectiveness.
- A local enterprise company ran a programme to form budding entrepreneurs
into business start-up teams to develop and implement new ideas.
The missing ingredient in their team development programme was
specialist input on team dynamics, and how individual personalities
can contribute to, or detract from, overall team performance.
A team profiling method was developed, which enabled individual
team members to assess their own strengths and potential limitations
as team members, and how they could maximise their contribution.
