What is Career Coaching?

Career coaching is available to organisations to offer to individuals who may be at a crossroads in their career.

Career coaching provides support and structure to allow the individual to make career decisions and manage a wide variety of career-related issues. We recognise the interdependence of career and personal considerations, thus ensuring decisions are made in the context of the individual's life as a whole.

Career coaching can help the individual to:·

  • Take responsibility for their own career development
  • Identify personal strengths and limitations
  • Identify barriers to career progression
  • Learn how to conduct a productive job search
  • Enhance self-presentation and interview skills
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Pursue a more fulfilling career
  • Deal effectively with work-related stress
  • Manage relationships and conflict at work
  • Implement career plans

What does Career Coaching involve?

The first meeting focuses on clarifying the current career situation and agreeing how a career coaching programme can be tailored to meet individual circumstances. After detailed assessment, together we design a stimulating and challenging programme of self-assessment, learning opportunities and information. Progress is discussed and reviewed with the coach on a regular basis. This helps the individual to develop the skill and confidence to establish and work towards realistic goals. Over a number of sessions, the individual is guided through the stages of clarifying 'Where am I now?', 'Where do I want to get to' and 'What do I need to do to get there?'
