Chiara Anne Amati joined The Keil Centre in January 2001.
She is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist and a member
of the British Psychological Society, Division of Occupational
Psychology's Committee.
A native of Italy, Chiara studied psychology at the University
of Edinburgh. Chiara then worked as a research associate at
The Koestler Parapsychology Unit investigating human volition
and willpower. Chiara completed her Masters degree in Occupational
Psychology at Heriot Watt/ Strathclyde Universities.
Chiara specialises in two main areas:
Psychological health at work
Chiara's main area of interest is psychological wellbeing
and health at work and the implications for the way we work
and manage or are managed. Chiara has helped companies understand
the way emotions, such as stress, affect their staff's wellbeing
and performance. Chiara has developed a range of training
and learning programmes to understand how organisations and
individuals can promote positive psychological health at work.
Chiara has also advised and helped organisations design and
implement methods to effectively measure sources of stress
at work and identify practical preventative solutions.
Assessment & development for individuals and teams
Chiara has experience in helping organisations in their selection
of senior posts: from the design of relevant competencies
to the use of a range of psychometric instruments to assist
panels in their selection decisions. Chiara has also integrated
her understanding of emotion at work in her work with individuals
and teams in a variety of team-building and coaching interventions.
Chiara also continues to work with the Human Factors team
on a number of projects including work on safety culture assessment
and improvement. She has recently been involved in the following
projects:
- Delivering of SCMM workshops and assessment in UK and
worldwide, in English, Italian and French;
- Developing safety culture assessment methods based on
safety competencies;
- Developing people-management competencies for supervisors
in safety-critical roles
